We used AA miles to fly from LAX (First Class) to Tokyo, then Biz (no First Class cabin) onwards to Bangkok. We checked in and used the Qantas First Class Lounge, which was comfortable and provided a restaurant for guests with an innovative menu. The lunch we had was very good.
The First Class flight was outstanding – plenty of room in a flat bed seat and large monitor for movie watching, and incredible food (Japanese and Western Choices) and service for the 11 hour flight.
We connected in Tokyo (Narita) and had to go through security again before using the Qantas One World lounge, which provided a decent selection of drinks and snacks. I enjoyed my little soybean skin sushi piece:
The second leg of the flight was in Biz angled flat seats (6 hours) and while it was much more comfortable than flying economy, it really couldn’t compare to JAL First. However, it was nice arriving in Bangkok fairly well rested after 2 long flights.
