S and I spent a great 3 day weekend in the fantastic city of San Francisco. The city is beautiful and vibrant, and this is how we did it…
SF is a short one hour flight from Burbank Airport – so we hopped on a Southwest Airlines flight, using miles to pay for our round trip tickets into Oakland. From there, a friend picked us up, but the public transportation in SF is very good, so we could have easily hopped on the airport shuttle to the Bart station and then took a Bart train to the Embarcadero.

Our hotel, the Hyatt Regency San Francisco at the Embarcadero, is in a great location – walking distance to the waterfront, Piers, downtown, etc. It is an old hotel and has a grand lobby with the largest hotel atrium in the world:
The rooms were a bit dated, but very clean and functional. I paid a cash and points rate of $100 and 7,500 points with a Diamond Status upgrade to a suite. We also had breakfast and evening appetizers in the Club Lounge, with great views of the Bay Bridge. The views from our bayview suite was awesome – the waterfront and ferry building on one side, downtown on the other side:
We had a great stay and enjoyed biking over the Golden Gate bridge and having amazing SF food – can’t wait to go back again!!!
