Another quick weekend get-a-way done. This time we drove just an hour from our home and stayed at the Hyatt in Century City on Avenue of the Stars, right across from CAA (Creative Artists Agency) and the Twin Towers, where many of the major players in Entertainment Law have their offices. Right across the street is a Westfield Mall, anchored by Macy’s and Bloomingdales.
The hotel itself is an older mid-century hotel, but updated in a contemporary style. The lobby has some cool chandeliers and lots of comfortable seating, and just outside near the pool area there is lots more comfortable seating if you want to have a drink al fresco:
We were given a penthouse floor room with a fantastic view of West L.A. all the way to the Pacific Ocean:
We spent a day out by the pool and jacuzzi… the weather was gorgeous!
There is also an Equinox next to the pool area of the hotel and we had free access with our Diamond status so we took advantage of the gym and a yoga class…
We also had access to the club lounge, which is on the lobby floor of the hotel. The lounge is small, but they offered a good continental breakfast with baked goods, smoked salmon, breakfast sandwiches, juices, coffees and teas, and snacks and dessert in the evenings.
How was this stay free? We used 2 discount codes to book on travelpony for an $85 discount (since expired) and the remaining $150 I charged to my Barclay World Mastercard. I called Barclay’s and asked them to put a $150 travel credit onto my account, which they did. All we had to pay for was self parking, which was $15 (valet service with no in/out privileges is $38 per day). I am loving these quick getaways!!!
