We spent a lovely February weekend at the Grand Hyatt Manchester in San Diego- it’s a massive hotel, taking up two large towers on the San Diego Bay. The hotel is walking distance to the Amtrak Station, the Gaslamp District (lots of good restaurants) and the Convention Center.
The rooms were about $175 a night for that weekend and I used a Diamond upgrade certificate to upgrade to a suite – it was really nice, clean and comfortable! Parking is about $30 per night. The suite was large, with a bedroom, small kitchen, dining and living room areas, 2 large flatscreen TV’s and 2 bathrooms.
The diamond status allowed us entrance into the 33rd floor club lounge, where we could relax while looking at views of the San Diego Bay and enjoy drinks (soft drinks, bottled water, coffee, tea, a wine/beer honor bar), breakfast, evening snacks and desserts. The hotel is so large that there are two sets of elevators for different floors, so we did have to go down to the lobby, then up to the 33rd floor to access the lounge. There were lots of people at the hotel for a convention, so it was a challenge getting on the elevators during meal times – sometimes we had to wait more than 10 minutes, and several times we just gave up and took the stairs to our room, which was on the 9th floor.
There is also a spa, outdoor pool and an adults only outdoor pool. We had a great stay and will stay here again!
